Daniel Tase Hayden Dharmata 101 brings a flair for the dramatic to industrial rock throughout the False Prophet. An album that almost feels like the soundtrack to a musical that never existed, each track brings it's own flavor and shows off another tool Dharmata has in its coldwave tool bag. Favorite track: I'd Like To Thank The Academy.

about

1992. In a parallel universe...

A Mahakala has manifested onto the Earth, and the Earth in turn has manifested into him.

He had learned of the power of cable television and its ability to communicate messages to millions upon millions. His message was The Dharma, and for years that message resonated strongly to the masses. However, too much time on a world ruled by mortal men had enslaved him to mortal mens' vices. This waned his power as a conduit of The Dharma, and soon society perceived him as nothing more than a garden variety televangelist- and he began to see himself as the same. The light of the three jewels within him began to dim, and before long he proclaimed:

"Nothing about me is real."

After a particularly tepid broadcast, he was accosted by a streetcorner zealot. The zealot's words were the last straw, and he decided to depart the Earth in the same selfish way mortal men would.

It was then the Khadiravani Tara appeared before him, and stated with her calm vehemence that she would not watch him fall. She pointed out that the words he spoke to millions were still true, and in turn he vowed his devotion to her and The Dharma with tears in his eyes. She also reminded him that people will remember him for his words- and through those he would live forever.

After a few months, the Mahakala's dedication to The Dharma caused the three jewels within him to shine brighter than ever. He realized pursuing man's narcissism was an empty pursuit, and exclaimed with a great smile on his face:

"Nothing about me is real."

about

Dharmata 101 Baltimore, Maryland

Dharmata 101 was formed in 1997 by frontman/composer JSun Bruner, after dissolving his prior project- which was a psychedelic folk project involving programmed rhythms called Mellow No. 5. The project was originally put together as a large deviation from the sappy, light-hearted work of Mellow No. 5 in the interest of making more lyric-driven music. ... more
